This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used by the SiteMinutes web app (siteminutes.app) and website (siteminutes.com). It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
1. The short version
- We use only strictly necessary cookies (to keep you signed in and secure) and one preference (light or dark appearance).
- We use no advertising cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no social-media plug-ins.
- Because the cookies we use are strictly necessary or store a choice you made yourself, they do not need consent under the EU ePrivacy Directive or the UK PECR, and we do not show a cookie banner. If we ever add optional cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.
- We do not sell or share information collected through cookies (as defined in US state privacy laws), so Global Privacy Control and "Do Not Track" signals require no further action; we honour them by default.
2. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. "Local storage" and "session storage" are similar browser features that keep small pieces of information on your device. We use all three, as listed below.

Our web host (Vercel) and our payment provider (PayGate / VCS) may set their own strictly necessary cookies for security and load balancing when you visit their pages, for example the secure card-payment page. Their policies apply to those cookies.
The iPhone, iPad and Mac apps do not use cookies. They store your sign-in session securely on your device.
4. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookies, you will not be able to sign in to the web app. Deleting the sm-theme cookie and local storage simply resets the appearance to Auto.
5. Changes
We will update this policy, with a new version number, before we introduce any new kind of cookie. If a new cookie is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent before setting it.
